Thankfully the issue of Ganesha being restarted across the cluster when an export is changed has been addressed in the 5.0 release of Spectrum Scale.

Wait till you get to the part where 'mmnfs export change /foo/whatever --nfsadd (whatever)'
bounces your nfs-ganesha services on all protocol nodes - at the same time.
