[gpfsug-discuss] Excluding Filesets on snapshots

Hello Yugendra,

Snapshots are taken per Inode space. Both the root fileset and the
independent fileset you created own separate inode spaces,
even if the independent fileset is nested in the root fileset.

Taking a snapshot of the root fileset should exclude the independent
fileset.
e.g:  mmcrsnapshot 'gpfs0' '@GMT-2018.01.19-08.03.52' -j 'root'

Taking a filesystem snapshot however would include all inode spaces of the
file system and would therefore include the independent fileset.
e.g.: mmcrsnapshot 'gpfs0' '@GMT-2018.01.19-08.04.47'

Hi,

We have 5 dependent Filesets linked to root fileset (mount point) and we
are creating a new independent Fileset which will be linked to root fileset
(mount point). We want to take snapshots of the dependent filesets and
independent fileset on different periodic intervals. Is there a way to
exclude independent fileset and take snapshot of all dependent filesets ?
