Did you do a kernel upgrade as well?
I've seen similar when you get dangling symlinks in the weak updates kernel module directory.

Subject: [gpfsug-discuss] make InstallImages errors
Hi All,
We have a small test cluster that I am upgrading from GPFS 4.1.0.8 (efix21) to GPFS 4.2.0.2. I noticed that on 2 of my 3 NSD servers I received the following errors:
/usr/lpp/mmfs/src
root at testnsd3# make InstallImages
(cd gpl-linux; /usr/bin/make InstallImages; \
exit $?) || exit 1
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/lpp/mmfs/src/gpl-linux'
Pre-kbuild step 1...
depmod: ERROR: fstatat(4, mmfs26.ko): No such file or directory
depmod: ERROR: fstatat(4, mmfslinux.ko): No such file or directory
depmod: ERROR: fstatat(4, tracedev.ko): No such file or directory
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/lpp/mmfs/src/gpl-linux'
/usr/lpp/mmfs/src
root at testnsd3#
However, they don’t seem to actually impact anything … i.e. GPFS starts up just fine on the box and the upgrade is apparently successful:
/root
root at testnsd3# mmgetstate
Node number Node name GPFS state
------------------------------------------
3 testnsd3 active
/root
root at testnsd3# mmdiag --version
=== mmdiag: version ===
Current GPFS build: "4.2.0.2 ".
Built on Mar 7 2016 at 10:28:55
Running 5 minutes 5 secs
/root
root at testnsd3#
So just to satisfy my own curiosity, has anyone else seen this and can anybody explain what that’s all about? OS is latest CentOS 7, BTW. Thanks…
Kevin
