We have 2 power 9 nodes, <br>

The rest of our cluster is running centos 7.4 and spectrum scale <a href="tel:4.2.3-8">
4.2.3-8</a> (x86 based) <br>

The power 9 nodes are running spectrum scale <a href="tel:5.0.0-0">5.0.0-0</a> currently as we couldn't get the gplbin for
<a href="tel:4.2.3">4.2.3</a> to compile, where as spectrum scale 5 worked on power 9 our of the box. They are running rhel7.5 but on an old kernel I guess.<br>

I'm not sure that <a href="tel:4.2.3">4.2.3</a> works on power 9 we've asked the IBM power 9 out reach team but heard nothing back.

If we can get <a href="tel:4.2.3">4.2.3</a> running on the power 9 nodes it would put us in a more consistent setup.
<br>

Of course our current plan b is to upgrade everything to <a href="tel:5.0.1">5.0.1</a>, but we can't do that as our storage appliance doesn't (officially) support spectrum scale 5 yet.<br>
<br>
These are my experiences of what works and nothing whatsoever to do with what's supported, except I want to keep us as close to a supported setup as possible given what we've found to actually work. (now that's an interesting spin on a disclaimer)<br>

So … I have another question on support.<br>

We’ve just ordered some Power 9 nodes, now my understanding is that with 7.4, they require the -ALT kernel (<a href="https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/linuxonibm/liaam/liaamdistros.htm">https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/linuxonibm/liaam/liaamdistros.htm</a>)
which is 4.x based. I don’t see any reference in the Spectrum Scale FAQ to the ALT kernels.<br>

So what Scale code is supported for us to run on the Power9s?<br>

Folks that have been updated to the 3.10.0-862 kernel (the kernel which ships with RHEL 7.5) as a result of applying kernel security patches may open a PMR to request an efix for Scale versions 4.2 or 5.0 . The efixes will then be provided once the internal
tests on RHEL 7.5 have been completed, likely a few days before the 4.2.3.9 and 5.0.1.1 PTFs GA (currently targeted around mid June).<br>
